Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman commenced a two-day state visit to Botswana, reflecting efforts to bolster diplomatic relations between the two nations. His arrival was marked by an official welcoming ceremony at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone, where he was greeted by Botswana’s President, Duma Gideon Boko.
The Sultan received a 21-gun salute and inspected a guard of honour, underscoring the formal nature of the visit. The occasion also included a traditional Botswanan cultural performance, welcoming the Sultan to the southern African country.
Following the ceremonial reception, Sultan Haitham, alongside President Boko, proceeded to the Presidency Headquarters for discussions with senior Botswana officials. These talks are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring mutual interests between Oman and Botswana.
