In June 2026, Oman experienced its highest recorded temperature, reaching a scorching 50.4°C in Mahout, as reported by the Civil Aviation Authority’s latest monthly weather statistics. This extreme heat was mirrored in other parts of the country, with Barka, Damaa and Al Tayeen, and Fahud each recording temperatures of 49.4°C. Qarn Al Alam was slightly cooler but still sweltering at 48.4°C.

On the opposite end of the temperature spectrum, Jabal Shams experienced the country’s lowest temperature at a chilly 11.1°C. Other cooler locations included Saiq at 16.8°C, Al Ashkharah at 18.0°C, Jabal Harem at 18.2°C, and Dhalkut at 20.4°C, showcasing the diverse climatic conditions present across Oman.

In terms of rainfall, Dhalkut in the Dhofar region received the most precipitation, totaling 55 mm for the month. This was followed by Jabal Shams with 18.4 mm, Saiq with 16.6 mm, Ibra with 12.2 mm, and Qayroun Hairiti with 11.2 mm. The data underscores the concentration of rainfall in the Dhofar region and surrounding mountainous areas, contrasting sharply with the dry heat experienced elsewhere in the country.

The weather data from June highlights the stark climate variations within Oman. While much of the nation contended with extreme heat, certain areas, particularly in the mountainous regions, experienced relatively cooler temperatures and received the bulk of the month’s rainfall. These statistics provide a glimpse into the varied and often extreme weather patterns that characterize Oman’s summer months.
