The United States and Jordan have unveiled a new trade agreement designed to enhance economic collaboration, lower trade barriers, and create new avenues for businesses in both countries. This agreement ensures that Jordan will maintain duty-free access for most American goods entering its market. Simultaneously, both nations will collaborate to eliminate logistical and trade hurdles to bolster commercial exchanges.

According to US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, this agreement aligns with President Donald Trump’s initiative to strengthen economic and strategic ties in the Middle East and to unlock new markets for American exporters. Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, noted that Jordanian exports to the United States would incur a 10 percent tariff, while US exports to Jordan will continue to be duty-free under the existing free-trade agreement. He emphasized that the new deal is anticipated to increase investment between the two countries.

The US and Jordan have a history of trade relations, having signed a free-trade agreement in 2001, marking Jordan as the first Arab nation to enter such an agreement with Washington. By 2010, all duties under this agreement were eliminated, facilitating smoother trade between the two nations.

Trade between the United States and Jordan amounted to $5.34 billion in 2025, as per US government data. Jordan’s significant exports include chemicals, garments, mineral products, and precious stones. Meanwhile, its primary import partners are China, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.
