The conclusion of the third edition of Oman’s youth training initiative, “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro), marked a significant stride in advancing electric vehicle technologies and sustainable transport within the country. Held from July 19 to August 27, the programme engaged 35 young men and women from various universities and colleges across Oman, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge in the realm of electric vehicles.
Participants delved into various aspects of electric vehicle technologies, including charging infrastructure, network planning, and vehicle maintenance and operations. The programme also highlighted the economic advantages of adopting electric vehicles and their role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global environmental goals.
In addition to technical training, the programme incorporated workshops addressing environmental challenges and sustainability principles, emphasizing the importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. These sessions encouraged participants to devise practical solutions tailored to local environmental conditions, fostering an innovative approach to sustainability in transportation.
This initiative aligns with Oman’s broader national objectives to enhance sustainable transportation and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. By fostering a new generation of electric vehicle experts, the programme contributes to the country’s efforts in reducing its carbon footprint and promoting environmental consciousness among its youth.
