Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel reaffirmed the “strong bond” between his nation and India in a heartfelt message following a deadly blast in Delhi. The attack on Monday, which killed eight, has been met with global condemnation.
“India and Israel are ancient civilisations that stand on eternal truths,” Netanyahu said in a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He praised the “shared values and an unyielding spirit” that unite the two countries.
Netanyahu, speaking also for his wife Sara, offered “deepest condolences to the families of the victims.” He pledged his country’s support, stating, “Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength.”
The Israeli leader’s message was also one of defiance: “Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls. The light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies.”
The investigation into the blast is now in the hands of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Ministry of Home Affairs transferred the case, citing a terror angle. The NIA is reportedly probing a Jaish-e-Mohammad module for the car bomb attack near the Red Fort.
